Lettering can be simply defined as “the art of drawing letters”
Calligraphy is based on penmanship; it’s essentially “writing letters.”
Lettering, on the other hand, is based on draftsmanship, i.e. “drawing letters.
The art of hand lettering consist of drawing letters by hand, creating a unique design of beautiful words where each artist reflects a unique style. After drawing the letters on paper, they are digitized and redrawn in the computer. Hand lettering is nothing like regular typography, because it's not standardized by the established font book.
It is creative, innovative and alive.
